Liven's take
A dead-common level-15 hat available from most starter-town equipment vendors. The base defense is unremarkable, but the Pilgrim's Hat has stuck in classic-Maple players' memories for two reasons: (a) it looks like actual gear rather than a cartoon prop, and (b) it was a really popular scroll target during the "10% scroll everything" era of v83 because a perfectly-scrolled Pilgrim's Hat with +INT or +DEX bonuses was a rare and coveted status symbol.
For a first character, don't scroll this - grab one, wear it through the 15-20 range, and upgrade to something with meaningful stat bonuses once you can afford it. It's a "vibes" item, not a power item.
