Liven's take
The umbrella-as-sword line is one of MapleStory's oldest inside jokes. Wizet added a family of "umbrella swords" to the 1H-sword category as gag items - fully functional weapons that swing like swords in combat but look, well, like you're smacking mobs with a parasol.
The cross-class trick: because the umbrella family sits in the 1H-sword bucket, ANY class that can equip 1H swords can equip it. Realistically that's Warriors (native), but early-community-legend players used umbrellas on characters outside the meta as a novelty. The Yellow Umbrella in particular was talked about as a niche low-cost weapon in some v83 guides.
Practically: it's a fine level-24 sword upgrade if you find one cheap in the market. Just know that when you show up to party quest wielding a parasol, people will notice.
