First guaranteed shield in most players' inventory - shields are a Warrior-exclusive slot that vendors sell but many new players don't buy until much later.

Blackbull's quest is Perion's biggest L11 grind - 40 total
Stumps + 10 Tree Branches. The upside: unlike most L10-11
quests that reward consumables, Blackbull hands you a
permanent equipment upgrade.
Where: Blackbull is in Perion's central
area. Stumps and Dark Stumps live on the west and north
exits respectively. Tree Branches drop from both mob types
as an ETC drop.
Shield mechanics: shields occupy the
off-hand slot on classes that CAN wear one (primarily
Warriors, some Magician sub-classes with Wands). Bowmen
and Thieves use two-handed or dual-wield weapons and
can't equip a shield. If you're not a Warrior, the shield
reward is either a bank item, an NPC sell, or a Free Market
trade candidate.
Wooden Buckler vs Steel Shield: Steel
Shield is the strictly better roll - higher base defense,
slightly higher level requirement, more upgrade slots.
Neither is a permanent keeper by mid-20s, but both bridge
the gap until you find a scrolled shield in Free Market
or drop one from a Perion-area mob.
