Liven's take

Greater tier upgrade scroll for the Shoes slot. When applied, rolls a 10% success chance; on success, adds +3 Speed permanently. On failure (90% of the time!), the scroll is consumed AND the shoes are typically destroyed - Greater tier scrolls historically have a much higher boom rate than Intermediate.

The math is brutal. 10% success means you'll succeed once in ten attempts on average. That's ten scrolls consumed for one +3 Speed application. Multiply by shoe destruction rate and Greater scrolls have real meso cost per successful stat point applied.

When to use Greater instead of Intermediate: only when:

  • Your shoes have MANY remaining upgrade slots (10+)
  • You already scrolled the safe slots with Intermediate
  • You can afford to lose the shoes if they boom
  • The +3 vs +2 differential matters for your build
For most players, Intermediate scrolls (60% success, +2) offer better expected value. Greater is a min-max tool.

How to acquire: guaranteed drop from Ronnie's House-Building chain final step (one per chain completion). Also drops rarely from higher-level mobs and sells on the Free Market at premium.
