Mong from Kong's Stirge Phobia Cure is the L17
Kerning citizenship arc. Stirges are the bat-mob
variants that hang around Kerning's subway tunnels -
their phobia is a real in-world concern for Kerning
residents.
The 3 quests
- 506138 - Making the Medicine. Mong
from Kong claims to know a cure. Gather ingredients.
Rewards 10 Blue Potions.
- 506139 - The Final Ingredient for the Cure.
Mong needs one more specific ingredient. EXP + mesos
only.
- 506141 - It's All in the Mind. Mong
has finally crafted the Special Stirge Phobia Cure.
Deliver it. Rewards RANDOM Pet Equipment Scroll.
Note the ID gap: quest 506140 exists
but is by a different NPC (likely the phobia patient
receiving the cure - the "delivery target" quest step).
This chain's 3 quests are Mong-side; the delivery-target
side is separate.
THE Pet Equipment Scroll reveal - NEW REWARD CATEGORY
This is Classic MapleStory's earliest documented
Pet Equipment Scroll source. Pet Equipment
Scrolls target pet accessories:
- Pet collars - stat-boosting neck
accessories for your pet
- Pet harnesses - defensive gear
- Pet ornaments - cosmetic + utility
The 4-scroll pool:
- Speed Scrolls (Int/Greater) - increase pet movement
speed
- Jump Scrolls (Int/Greater) - increase pet jump height
Pet mechanics: pets in MapleStory
follow you around. Faster pets keep up better; higher-
jump pets reach vertical platforms with you. Pet
Equipment Scrolls are quality-of-life upgrades for
players who use pets extensively (auto-loot, follow,
cosmetic display).
Cross-reference: Mar the Fairy
Pet Equipment Scrolls are only useful if your pet is
ALIVE. If your pet has expired, visit
Mar the Fairy
in Ellinia to revive it with the Water of Life.
Where to acquire pets in the first place
Pets in Classic MapleStory typically come from:
- Cash Shop premium purchases
- Rare event drops (7-day expiring pets)
- Special quest rewards (rare)
Pet Equipment Scrolls have zero utility if you don't
own a pet - FM sell to Cash Shop pet owners for 3,000-
10,000 mesos each.
