Ayan of Perion says she can't take one step out of town.

I met Ayan in Perion. She can't remember anything about her
childhood and lives every day in fear of the Stumps that
surround Perion. She finds even looking at them too scary.
Due to a promise made long ago, I need to defeat some Stumps
to help ease her fears.
The Stump Horror Story is the emotional aftermath to the
Bruce and Ayan
Reunion arc. Ayan recovered her memories via the toy
sword in that chain - but her childhood trauma with Stumps
(which is why she was originally lost, per the datamine
implication) never resolved.
Where: Ayan is in Perion. Stumps are
literally one screen outside town via the west exit. Kill
the required number and return to Ayan.
Story context: the "promise made long
ago" line is the CoT 2 datamine hinting at pre-quest lore -
either a promise Ayan made to Bruce as a child, or a promise
Ayan made to herself. Either way, killing Stumps helps her
face the trauma. The Return Scrolls she gives you are her
way of thanking you for going where she couldn't.
Chain-adjacent but standalone: you can
do this quest without running the Bruce chain first, but
the story hits harder if you know Ayan's backstory. Play
order: Bruce chain (10123-10125) then Stump Horror (10411).
