Grand Launch

What's actually in Grand Launch

Victoria Island, a Lv. 100 cap, two job advancements, six bosses, a new Perion area, and Housing. No 3rd Job, no Ossyria, no Zakum. Everything here comes from Nexon's Grand Launch release notes.

Correction

This page used to be wrong. Until October 21 it said Grand Launch would open 3rd Job for every class, Zakum, Papulatus, and most of Ossyria (Orbis, El Nath, Ludibrium dungeons, Omega Sector, Aqua Road, Mu Lung, NLC), and it presented that as coming from Nexon's release notes. It didn't - no Nexon source said it. Nexon's Grand Launch release notes now confirm the opposite: the cap stays at Lv. 100, only the Lv. 10 and Lv. 30 advancements exist, and all six bosses are on Victoria Island. The page has been rewritten from those notes, and other guides that repeated the claim are being corrected too. Sorry - this is exactly the mistake the site exists to avoid.

TL;DR

  • Servers open October 21, 2026 at 6:00 PM UTC (11:00 AM Pacific, 2 PM Eastern, 8 PM CEST).
  • Level cap: Lv. 100. Job advancements at Lv. 10 and Lv. 30. No 3rd Job.
  • Six bosses, all on Victoria Island: Mano, Stumpy (new), Mushmom, Shade, Zombie Mushmom, Jr. Balrog.
  • New area: Perion’s Excavation Site.
  • New systems: Housing and the Lie Detector Test.
  • Trading unlocks 24 hours after a character on your account reaches Lv. 15.
  • Forgotten Hollow opens November 18 (see the roadmap).
  • Events run from day one - see the Grand Launch Event Calendar.

Getting in

  • Nexon Launcher: the Classic World client can only be downloaded on launch day. Install the launcher and log in ahead of time; on launch day open MapleStory in your library, switch on the MapleStory Classic World toggle, and download the client.
  • Steam: the games are bundled. Install MapleStory and let its updates finish beforehand - that makes the launch-day patch much smaller.
  • Platforms: Windows and macOS.
  • Languages: English, plus Spanish (Beta) and Korean (Beta). Translations are machine-generated; the UI, class names, cash items, and pets stay in English.
  • Controls: choose Classic Style or Modern Style key bindings (Modern supports WASD movement). Xbox and PlayStation controllers work, but Enable Controller Support is off by default in Game Options.
  • Characters: up to 3 per account. Deleted characters go through a waiting period before removal.

Jobs and levels

Every character starts as a Beginner on Maple Island, then moves to Victoria Island. Maximum level is Lv. 100.

Bosses

Boss Notes

Shade Citizenship-quest ghost boss
Zombie Mushmom Sleepywood hidden street
Jr. Balrog Sleepywood dungeon

New: Perion's Excavation Site

The release notes add a new area in Perion, the Excavation Site, with eight listed monsters:

Ghost Stump, Wooden Mask, Rocky Mask, Skeledog, Mummydog, Skeleton Soldier, Officer Skeleton, Commander Skeleton.

It turns out to be a twelve-map training complex running from Lv 19 masks and stumps near the entrance to Lv 73 Commander Skeletons at the far end. Full breakdown: the Excavation Site guide.

Systems

  • Crafting (Lv. 10+): Silas Irons (Smithing), Mr. Thunder (Weaponcrafting), Francois (Tailoring), Vicious (Woodcrafting), JM From tha Streetz (Leatherworking), Chrishrama (Arcforge).
  • Citizenship (Lv. 12+): Arthur at Henesys Town Hall, Roxy at Kerning City Civic Center. Perks are specialty-shop access and discounts on cabs, storage, and some general-store items. Community Board requests earn Contribution toward your Citizenship grade.
  • Housing (new): one home at a time, in Henesys or Kerning City, bought with mesos from the Housing Registrar - Bianca (Henesys) or Scarlett (Kerning City). Needs Citizenship grade Visitor or higher. Decorate, invite players, visit theirs; the home is shared across every character on your account.
  • Lie Detector Test (new): sold at the Citizen General Store (account-bound, 7 days). Use it on a character behaving abnormally to start a minigame; a character that fails goes to the Truth Booth, where they must stay logged in for a set time with movement, skills, chat, items, and all content blocked.
  • Beauty Album: saves hairstyles, faces, and skin colors so you can switch back later.
  • Kerning City Party Quest (“First Time Together”): Lv. 21+, start with Lakelis in Kerning City, Channels 3 - 12 only, ends against King Slime.

Not in Grand Launch

  • 3rd Job - not documented; only Lv. 10 and Lv. 30 advancements.
  • Anything past Lv. 100 - the cap is unchanged.
  • Ossyria (Orbis, El Nath and beyond), Ludibrium, Zakum, Papulatus - none appear in the release notes. The content described is Maple Island, Victoria Island, and the new Excavation Site.
  • Forgotten Hollow - opens November 18, per the MapleStory Fest roadmap.

For what is still unknown (cap raise, 3rd Job timing, the roadmap), see Not yet announced on the Launch Hub.

Day-one checklist

  1. Pre-install the launcher (or the Steam base game) before 6:00 PM UTC.
  2. Get one character to Lv. 15 early. The trade restriction lifts 24 hours after a character on the account reaches Lv. 15, so the sooner one gets there, the sooner the whole account can trade.
  3. At Lv. 10, pick up ‘[Event] The Journey Begins’ from Maple Administrator and start collecting Maple Leaves - it’s a 14-check-in ladder, one per day per account.
  4. At Lv. 25, start the Mark of the Beta quest with Jay in Henesys (runs until November 18).
  5. The first GM event is the jump-quest challenge at 12:00 AM UTC on October 22 - that’s 5:00 PM Pacific on launch day. Enter through Paul at Lith Harbor.
  6. For KPQ at Lv. 21, switch to a channel between 3 and 12.
