Liven's take

Iron Ore is the second tier of Blacksmithing material, a step up from Bronze Ore. Same 20-meso vendor price but higher-tier recipes.

Where it drops:

  • Quest reward: Shane's How to Enjoy Mushrooms Even More awards 5 Iron Ore guaranteed.
  • Mob drops: Iron Hogs (Perion cave zones), Stone Golems, mid-tier Perion cave mobs.
  • Free Market: bulk stacks common. Iron Ore FM prices are usually 25-40 mesos per piece.

What it makes: mid-tier Blacksmithing recipes - Steel Shields (see the Blackbull reward for reference), iron armors, and the mid-teens weapon refresh pool.

Efficiency note: if you're grinding Perion cave mobs for EXP anyway, Iron Ore drops passively. Don't dedicate a farming run to it unless FM prices spike - incidental drops from combat leveling supply most needs.
