Post-70 Progression

The Lv. 70-100 Capstone

The cap is Lv. 100 and there is no 3rd Job at Grand Launch. The last 30 levels are about finishing your 2nd job well, not waiting for the next one.

Correction

This page used to be wrong in several ways. It said 3rd Job would open at Grand Launch and tagged that "[CONFIRMED] per Nexon's Oct 3 release notes" - those notes say nothing of the kind. It said Zakum, Papulatus, and Pianus were "held for Grand Launch," recommended Forgotten Hollow maps as training (Forgotten Hollow was never open), said the game doesn't hard-cap at Lv. 100 (it does), and gave per-class 3rd-job skill previews marked "confirmed in the datamine" when our datamine contains no 3rd-job skill data at all. It also called the 3rd-job branches by their 4th-job names (Hero, Paladin, Night Lord). The page has been rewritten from Nexon's Grand Launch release notes.

The Lv. 70+ reality

From the Grand Launch release notes:

  • Maximum level is Lv. 100. The only job advancements are at Lv. 10 and Lv. 30. There is no 3rd Job at Grand Launch, and Nexon hasn’t given it a date - Inkwell’s Oct 2 interview said 3rd Job and some regions arrive sequentially after launch.
  • The world is Maple Island and Victoria Island, plus the new Excavation Site in Perion. Ossyria, Zakum, and Papulatus are not part of Grand Launch.
  • Bosses: the six launch bosses are Mano, Stumpy, Mushmom, Shade, Zombie Mushmom, and Jr. Balrog. Past Lv. 70 they are mostly drop runs - except Jr. Balrog, who is Lv 80 with 325,400 HP in the Classic World client: the real endgame boss of Grand Launch.
  • Forgotten Hollow opens November 18 (listed as Level 39+ on the roadmap). Its known quests run Lv. 45-55, so don’t count on it for this level range.

So Lv. 70-100 is a long grind on the maps you already know. That isn’t wasted time: every level is still HP, MP, AP, and SP for your 2nd job.

What to do with 30 levels

1. Finish your 2nd-job skills

Max your core 2nd-job skills first - they are your whole kit until 3rd Job exists. See your branch in the Class Builds hub.

2. Scroll your weapon and gloves

The biggest damage-per-meso lever. See the gearing guide for the scroll math. With no new gear tiers on the horizon, a well-scrolled weapon stays your weapon for a long time.

3. Scroll your earrings

Classic World gives earrings a crit-damage line, which makes them a real damage slot - see Classic World ground rules.

4. Try the Excavation Site

Perion’s new area is the one piece of genuinely new map content at launch, and its far end is built for this level range: Officer Skeletons (Lv 63) in the camps and Commander Skeletons (Lv 73) in Remains <Tomb> IV and Remains <Cliff>. All undead and weak to Holy. See the Excavation Site guide.

5. Catch up on quests

If you skipped them on the way up, Lv. 70+ is the time:

6. Play the launch events

The Grand Launch Event Calendar runs through November 18 (Mark of the Beta needs only Lv. 25), with GM events on Oct 22, Nov 6, and Dec 19.

Should you save SP for 3rd Job?

In traditional MapleStory you could hold unspent SP and spend it after a later advancement. Whether Classic World works the same way hasn’t been confirmed. Even if it does, the trade-off has changed:

  • 3rd Job has no date. Holding SP means playing weaker for weeks or months on the chance of a head start later.
  • Your 2nd-job skills are your entire kit until then. Unmaxed 2nd-job skills cost you EXP and mesos every hour you play.

Our recommendation: max the 2nd-job skills you actually use. Only hold SP you genuinely have no use for, and revisit when Nexon announces 3rd Job.

Gear

Slot Target Why
Weapon Your best Lv. 50-70 weapon, scrolled for attack Biggest damage lever
Gloves Lv. 40+ scrolled for attack Second-biggest lever
Earrings Lv. 50+ scrolled for your main stat Classic World crit-damage line
Overall Lv. 50-60, stat scrolls Cheap scrolls, big stat change
Hat Lv. 45+, stat scrolls Lower priority
Shoes Lv. 40+, speed scrolls Comfort, not damage
Cape Icarus Cape (Lv. 46) or a Lv. 65 cape Best Victoria Island options

Look for useful scrolls in the Magic Box pool (earring, glove, cape, and shoe scrolls) if you win a Scroll of Secrets at a GM event.

When 3rd Job arrives

Nothing about Classic World’s 3rd Job is confirmed - not the level, the quest, the NPCs, or the skills. For orientation only, this is how the 2nd-job branches advanced in traditional MapleStory:

2nd Job Traditional 3rd Job Traditional 4th Job
Fighter Crusader Hero
Page White Knight Paladin
Spearman Dragon Knight Dark Knight
Wizard (Fire/Poison) Mage (Fire/Poison) Arch Mage (Fire/Poison)
Wizard (Ice/Lightning) Mage (Ice/Lightning) Arch Mage (Ice/Lightning)
Cleric Priest Bishop
Hunter Ranger Bowmaster
Crossbowman Sniper Marksman
Assassin Hermit Night Lord
Bandit Chief Bandit Shadower

Inkwell has said Classic World is not a 1:1 recreation and that content won’t follow the original release order, so treat this as history, not a forecast. We’ll replace this table with real details when Nexon publishes them.
